LABOR UNIONS’ RANK AND
FILE OVERWHELMINGLY BACK JACKSON
Michael A. Jackson will be endorsed for
County Executive of Prince George’s County by
the rank and file of nine labor unions, Monday,
July 26th, at a union press
conference.
Where:
Sheet Metal Worker
100
4725 Silver Hill Road, Suite
1
Suitland,
Maryland
When:
July 26, 2010 at 11:30
a.m.
Other candidates claim union backing, but
the endorsements come from union boards, some
of whose members don’t even live in Prince
George’s County. Such endorsements are not
representative of the opinions of the union men
and women on the frontlines who have no say in
the endorsement process.
In contrast, the backing of Jackson is
supported overwhelmingly by the unions’
membership, in some cases, by 100 percent
support.
“The administrative supervisors are
supporting Michael Jackson for County Executive
of Prince George’s County because we know him
and we know all that he has done to support
education and the children of Prince George’s
County,” said Doris Reed, Executive Director of
The Association of Supervisory and
Administrative School Personnel
(ASASP).
The following nine unions endorse
Jackson:
·
Association of Supervisory and
Administrative School Personnel
·
AFSCME Council 67
·
Amalgamated Transit Union
(ATU)
·
International Union of Elevator
Constructors
·
Sheet Metal Workers 100
·
AFSCME Local 2250
·
American Postal Works Union
·
DCNA
·
Teamsters Local 639
Additionally, Jackson has received the
backing of the Prince George's
County Volunteer Fire and Rescue
Association; the Fraternal Order of Police
Lodge 112 Deputy Sheriff's
Association.
